Working with us
What your board will ask, answered up front.
How an engagement runs, what the first call and discovery give you, how to buy from us, and what you own. Written so you can pass it to your board, funder or procurement team.
How an engagement runs
A first release, then we stay.
You don't need a detailed specification or existing software to start.
Free call
30 minutes with the engineer who'd lead your project. We talk through what you want to make possible and who it would help, and you get an honest view on whether new software is the answer. It commits you to nothing.
Discovery
We meet the people who'll use the service and learn how things work today. You get a shaped first release: what it does, what it leaves for later and the approach we recommend, with a clear plan and cost before anything is built.
First release
Contracted as its own project. We build in useful stages, so you can try working software early and change course before it gets expensive.
Support and development
After launch, we stay on to support, maintain and develop the service for an agreed monthly amount. Most clients stay with us, and our longest partnership has run for more than six years.
We don't publish prices, because they depend on what you need. You'll get a clear plan and cost for the first release before anything is built, and the monthly amount for support is agreed before launch.
Buying from us
Shaped to how you buy.
Public bodies
We can shape a first release to suit your quick quote process, and contract ongoing support separately.
Public sector and transportCharities and social enterprises
We can phase a first release to fit a grant, in stages you can report against, with support after launch for an agreed monthly amount.
Charities and social enterpriseFounders and businesses
A first release sized to what you can sustain, then support and development at a pace that suits you.
Founders and start-ups
Contracts, data and insurance
The detail your board will check.
Anything not covered here, ask on the call or email hello@wheelhouse.software.
- Who owns the code?
- You do. Once it's paid for, the code and intellectual property are yours.
- How is personal data handled?
- Personal data is hosted in the UK and encrypted, with retention schedules and an audit trail where you need them. A data processing agreement is available on request.
- Are you insured?
- Yes. We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance, and can send certificates on request.
- Will it be accessible?
- We build to WCAG 2.2 AA and check it as we go, and we can help you prepare your accessibility statement.
- What if we part ways, or WheelHouse can't carry on?
- We build with standard, widely used tools, so another developer could pick up your service. The contract sets out how we'd hand over the code and everything needed to run it.
- Who will we deal with?
- Blair, our founder and the engineer who leads your project, from the first call through launch and support. There's no account manager in between.
