The need

Where it started

ARC Scotland paid a developer every time they needed to change a phone number or update event details. The WordPress theme had been built with hardcoded text throughout, so a two-minute task needed a support ticket and a bill.

Who it's for: ARC Scotland's staff, and the people looking for its events and services.

The build

What we built

• Rebuilt the theme so all content is editable through WordPress
• Cleared years of plugin debt, removing unused plugins and updating the rest
• Trained staff on adding pages, editing content, and managing events
• Ongoing support for complex changes and conversion improvements

Results

What changed

• Staff updating content same-day instead of waiting on developers
• Developer fees eliminated for routine content changes
• Event and service information now consistently current
• Site performance and navigation improved alongside content control

Since launch

What we still do

ARC Scotland's team runs its websites day to day, and we still advise on them. Alongside that, we've built and developed Compass for ARC since 2023.
